Just a few hours a week can make a huge impact in the lives of many. We're always looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand. Whether you're comforting patients within our hospice programs or out and about assisting in our community, there are a multitude of volunteer opportunities at VNA. Take a look at what we have to offer and fill out the form on this page to have one of our volunteer representatives reach out.
As Hospice provides holistic care for patients & families, volunteer training classes are offered to help you bring your gifts of compassion, commitment, and companionship to those nearing end of life. The hospice program seeks volunteers aged 18 or older to visit with patients and their families or to assist in office work.
Bear Hugs Volunteer
We are seeking talented volunteers to help grieving families with Bear Hugs Program. The program uses clothing of a deceases loved one to handcraft a memory bear using a sewing pattern with set-in sleeves, eaves and curves. The bears are approximately 20"high and use fabric that yields about 1 yard of fabric. All volunteers will be trained and are required to sew 3 practice bears.
Fundraisers & Special Events
Do you prefer hand on activities? VNA has a number of Special Events we run every year in support of our hospice, children and family and community based programs, none of which would be possible without the help of our volunteers. Whether you are assisting on an invitation mailing, securing auction items, or helping guests check in at the door, you will become an integral part of our work.
Thrift Shop Volunteer
Our Thrift & Consignment Shop located in Manasquan, NJ generates over $300,000 each year in support of VNA's programs and services. The volunteers that work at the shop are the backbone of the operation, pricing, stocking new donations and assisting customers with their needs.
